The lowdown: 'The Deputy' is a one-off 60-minute BBC drama that examines the public and private life of the fictional Deputy Prime Minister and member for Birmingham, Bob Galway. Warren Clark is superb in the title role, and it comes as no surprise that the role of Bob Galway was written specifically for him. Galway is assisted by his principal private secretary, Christopher Williams (David Tennant), who keeps a sharp eye on Galway's two private secretaries (who are having a not-so secret relationship). Galway also has to contend with the Prime Minister's high-efficient, no-nonsense director of communications, Terri Leonard (the marvellous Dervla Kirwan), and Stephen Sharples (Jack Dee), a career politician and Deputy Home Secretary, who aspires to the office of Home Secretary. The story sees Galway deal
with a range of problems as Deputy PM, including handling Prime Minister's
