The lowdown: 'Time Gentlemen Please' was set in a fictional London pub called The Cowshed, although its name
was not identified until the second season. The pub is run by the loudmouthed, bigoted, sexist and opinionated landlord,
known only as Guv (played by comedian Al Murray). His regular patrons include flatulent womaniser Terry, a reasonably
intelligent man nicknamed the Professor (who lives with his mother and whose sexuality is dubious), an old man who is
only referred to as Pops, and the odd couple of Leslie and Lesley, a big biker and his much smaller girlfriend, who only
communicates by growling at people. The Guv has an archrival in Greg Thompson, the landlord of the nearby Queen of
Hearts, while the brewery's area manager, Vicky Jackson, is a constant thorn in his side. A total of 37 episodes were
made, and broadcast on Sky One between 11 September 2000 and 1 May 2002. The Guv was based on a character
created by Murray whose first appearance was at the 1999 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

'Day of the Trivheads' was the 12th episode of the first season, and was first broadcast on Sky One on 27 November
2000. Guv's pub has been selected to host a heat of the television quiz show 'Fact Hunt' (say it aloud three times very
quickly), but almost inevitably its opponent turns out to be a team from the Queen of Hearts. Guv's team comprises
himself, Terry and the Professor, while their opponents are Greg, Professor Baker from the local university (played by
Colin Baker), and a young boy who pretends to be 18 but is really 12. Naturally, Guv's team doesn't have a chance...
Colin Baker has relatively little to do in this episode, but there is a not-so-subtle reference to his Doctor Who days.

The Verdict: 'Time Gentlemen Please' is rude, crude and politically incorrect (and also extremely funny at times). The
humour is much more coarse than the traditional British sitcom (which is why it was on Sky One) and Guv's opinions on
foreigners and women (amongst others) will not be to everyone's taste. However, it is an innovative and original comedy
that is refreshingly different, and will appeal to many people. Just don't expect an English version of 'Cheers'...
