The lowdown: In this 1999 film, computer game players are invited to test drive a new game platform, 'eXistenZ',
in which players enter a virtual reality world that becomes indistinguishable from the real world. However, a group
which opposes the new generation of computer games wants to kill the creater of 'eXistenZ', Allegra Geller (Jennifer
Jason Leigh), and there is an attempted assassination at the product demonstration. Geller avoids being killed and
goes on the run with a marketing trainee, Ted Pikul (Jude Law). Much of the film involves them trying to stay alive
and fix Geller's pod, the organic gaming device that makes playing 'eXistenZ' possible.

Christopher Eccleston has a small role in this film, as the seminar leader who introduces the game players to Geller.
His character even notes that his character in the computer game has a very small role in the game! Fans of his
portrayal of the Doctor will enjoy seeing him use the word 'fantastic' in this film  : )

The verdict: There have been a number of films that examine themes explored in this film, particularly the concept
of what is real and what is not real. The twists and turns of 'eXistenZ' make it a highly enjoyable film, and fans of the
genre should enjoy it, although you may come to the end of the film wondering what it is was all about. The acting
is pretty good too, with a cast that also includes Willem Dafoe and Ian Holm.
