The lowdown:  Based on Jennifer Egan's novel of the same name, 'The Invisible Circus' tell the story of Phoebe
(Jordana Brewster) and Cameron Diaz (Faith), two sisters who grew up in the 60s, an era of free love and flower
power. It is told from the perspective of the younger sister, Phoebe, who provides the first-person narration. Faith
was a true child of the 60s, getting involved in political activism, including the civil rights movement and protests
against the Vietnam war. In 1969, Faith departs for Europe with her first real boyfriend, a long-haired hippy known
only as Wolf (Christopher Eccleston). She commits suicide in Portugal one year later, leaving Phoebe and their
mother with unanswered questions about her death. The film then moves forward to 1975, with an 18-year-old
Phoebe still curious about the mystery of Faith's death and convinced that she would not have killed herslf. She
sets out for Europe and uses Faith's postcards to follow her sister's movements during the last year of her life.

Phoebe meets Wolf again in Paris, who reveals that his real name is Christopher. He has put his radical, hippy
past behind him. He tells Phoebe about some of the things her sister got up to in Europe, which include joining
the extremist Red Army in Berlin. Via flashbacks we learn that Wolf had wanted to settle down with Faith and
put their lifestyle as anarchists behind them, but Faith turns down his marriage proposal and vows to continue
her life as an anarchist. Wolf and Faith go their separate ways, and Wolf tells Phoebe that he never saw Faith
again. Phoebe is determined to go to Portugal to find out what happened to Faith, but Wolf tries to convince her
not to. He eventually agrees to travel to Portugal with her, after she learns that he has not told her all he knows
about Faith's death. They arrive at the town where Faith died, and Wolf reluctantly reveals that he was present
when she committed suicide by jumping off a cliff. When Phoebe stands on the edge of the cliff Wolf fears she
will follow her sister's lead, but Phoebe says she would never kill herself. Wolf and Phoebe part company, and
Phoebe returns to San Francisco with some of the answers she has been seeking.

Trivia:  The film takes its title from an infamous 36-hour party held in San Francisco held by the city's thriving
counterculture in 1967. Wolf refers to this event when Phoebe first meets him at a party at her parents' house.
When she asks where all the people came from, he replies that they were found at the Invisible Circus.
